Extra oil cooler

The temperature of the oil has a major impact on the service life of the gearbox. Raised temperatures wear out the oil, the seals, and the friction components, leading to serious follow-on faults. Nine out of ten automatic boxes fail due to overheating. An extra oil cooler is a cheap investment which can save large sums of money.

Is your gearbox in the danger-zone for overheating?

In certain situations, gearboxes have to deal with an extra heavy load. If you recognize one of the following situations, we recommend that you take steps to prolong the service life of your gearbox. Fitting an extra oil cooler is one such step.

Cars with automatic gearboxes which tow trailers (e.g. caravans or horse boxes) or are loaded heavily. Bear in mind that one real overload is enough to "burn" your gearbox. The most common scenario, however, is mild but repeated overheating.  
• 
  
Vehicles with automatic gearboxes which do a lot of driving with frequent starting and stopping, newspaper delivery vans, taxis in urban environments, or frequent driving in heavy urban traffic.  
• Cars with automatic gearboxes which are driven frequently in mountainous areas.

temperature increases from 79 to 91º C.
