The designation of the gearbox specifies exactly which model it is. The designation is important because different gearboxes can be used in the same model of car. Thus, it is not always enough to know the make, model, and year of the car in order to identify its gearbox.
The designation for these boxes consists of 3 letters or a number and a letter which can be found on the box itself, on the first page of the service history, and/or on a label by the hatch. Example: ERY, GWB, DUU, DLP, EQG, DXS
The designation is also called the part number and this number is written on the gearbox. If you can’t read the number off the gearbox, you can call the spare parts sales of a Volvo dealership. Bear in mind that they often specify, for instance, "AW55-50" or "AW50-42", but that these are incorrect designations for us. Insist that they look for the gearbox number. Example: 1208911, 1208899, 8636767, 8667365
The designation is on the gearbox and normally begins with, for instance, DPO, JC5 or, JC7 followed by three numbers. You’ll find the number on a label (which in the best case scenario will be visible through the engine compartment), or you can contact the spare parts sales of a Renault dealership.
Example: DPO 013, DPO 052, JC5 151
The designation is on the gearbox. You’ll find the number on a label (which in the best case scenario will be visible through the engine compartment) and stamped into the underside of the gearbox. If you can’t read the designation on the gearbox, a Renault dealership will be able to help you.
Example: PF1AA013, PF1AA027, PK5008, PK6021
The designation is on the gearbox. You’ll find the number on a label (which in the best case scenario will be visible through the engine compartment) and stamped into the underside of the gearbox. Our experience is that Nissan dealers’ documentation of these gearboxes is poor.
Example: PF1AA013, PF1AA027, PK5008, PK6021
The designation is written on the gearbox. You’ll find the number on a label (which in the best case scenario will be visible through the engine compartment) and stamped into the underside of the box. Our experience is that Opel dealers’ documentation of these boxes is poor.
Example: PF1AA013, PF1AA027, PK5008, PK6021
The designation written on the gearbox. If you can’t read the number off the gearbox, you can call the spare parts sales of a Mercedes dealership.
