VW Transporter / Caravelle

Fitting instructions, automatic box VW T4 (Volkswagen Transporter)

• Check that both locating pins are on the engine block
   
• Ensure that the torque converter doesn’t get stuck when bolting together
   
• Check the oil level in the transaxle (drain plug).
   
• Top up with ATF (VW original, yellow oil) using the filler pipe until it runs over. Start the engine, engage D and R and back to N. Open the overflow pipe underneath in the sump plate. Top up again until fluid runs out of the overflow pipe. Fit the plug.
   
• READ OFF THE ERROR CODES AND MAKE A NOTE OF THEM.
   
• REMOVE THE ERROR CODES & READ THEM OFF AGAIN. (there must be nothing left )
   
• Make basic adjustment if necessary after test running.
